Treats are a wonderful way to reward positive behaviour, provide mental stimulation and strengthen the bond we share with our dogs. But remember, treats, dental sticks and supplement chews all contribute to your dog's daily calorie intake and do not provide complete and balanced nutrition.
I personally shower Galaxy with treats because, well… I love her. 😂 I even had to remove her “treat” button after she started throwing tantrums when I said no more!
So I've done the digging and found low-calorie, Australian-made treats with quality, transparent ingredients — because spoiling our dogs shouldn't have to mean overfeeding them.
A little food for thought…
Is your best friend getting a little...cuddly? In my own research, I found Australian-made dog treats ranging from 278 to 633 kcal per 100g — more than double the calories.
